Funding for North East businesses, in one place and in plain English
Sourced North East is an independent, free directory of grants, loans and investment for businesses in North East England. We do the searching and checking so you can spend your time on the application.
- 34 schemes listed
- 30 currently live
- 27 funders
- 8 North East areas
- Last checked 19 Oct 2026
Our mission
Help every North East business find the funding it's eligible for, quickly and without paying a consultant just to find out what exists.
The problem we solve
Business funding in the region is spread across dozens of websites: the North East Combined Authority, Tees Valley Combined Authority, seven councils, the North East Growth Hub, Innovate UK, the British Business Bank, the North East Fund, community foundations and delivery partners. Schemes open and close with little notice, names change, and the same fund is often described differently in different places.
Most small firms don't have time to check all of them. So they miss money they could have had, or chase schemes that closed months ago.
Who it's for
- Owners and directors of small and medium-sized businesses
- Start-ups and sole traders
- Finance leads planning investment
- Accountants, advisers and business support staff helping clients
What's free
- Every listing and search filter
- Area and category guides
- The Monday "What's open this week" email
How we find and check schemes
- Find. We monitor official sources: GOV.UK business finance support, combined authority and council funding pages, the North East Growth Hub, Innovate UK and the Innovation Funding Service, the British Business Bank and fund managers.
- Verify. Every amount, eligibility rule and deadline comes from the official or delivery-partner page, and each listing links straight to it. Where a detail isn't clear, we write "check with funder" rather than guess.
- Date-stamp. Every listing shows when we last checked it. Open schemes are re-checked weekly and before each newsletter.
- Keep the history. Closed schemes stay listed and clearly marked, so you don't waste time on them, and you can see when they might return.
Independence and editorial policy
Sourced North East is funded by sponsors: businesses such as accountants, lenders and advisers who want to reach North East firms. Sponsors are always labelled "Sponsored" and never decide which schemes we list, what we say about them or how they're ordered. We don't take commission from funders or applicants. If we ever get something wrong, we correct it and update the checked date.

Frequently asked questions
Is Sourced North East free to use?
Yes. Searching the directory, reading every listing and receiving the Monday newsletter are all free. We are funded by clearly labelled sponsors.
Are you a funder or a grant consultant?
Neither. We do not award funding or take a cut of grants. We list schemes, link to the official source and explain them in plain English. You always apply directly to the funder.
How often are listings checked?
Every listing shows the date we last checked it against the official source. Open schemes are re-checked weekly, and deadlines and amounts are checked again before each Monday newsletter.
Do sponsors affect which grants you list?
No. Sponsors never influence which schemes are listed, what we say about them or the order they appear in. Sponsored placements are always labelled.
Which areas do you cover?
Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland, County Durham and the Tees Valley, plus UK-wide schemes that North East businesses can apply for.
I found a mistake or a scheme you are missing. What should I do?
Email hello@northeastsourced.co.uk with a link to the official page. We check every report and update the listing, usually within a working day.
